Fire Destroys McCandless Home
Workers were renovating the home when the fire broke out.
The McCandless Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of a fire which destroyed a home at 8763 Wittmer Road Tuesday morning.
Firefighters responded to the call around 11:30 a.m. and discovered fire in the garage, fueled by a raptured gas line.
No one lived at the home at the time and no one was hurt.
Firefighters poured water on the home to keep the fire from spreading until Equitable gas crews were able to shut off the gas about an hour later.
A next-door neighbor, Carolyn Harvey, said the home had been vacant for four years, and workers had just began to renovate it a few weeks ago.
