McCandless Crossing Town Homes, What Will They Look Like?

Grading of the site, off of Cumberland Road, is expected to begin sometime this spring.

Construction of another component of McCandless Crossing is expected to get underway this year; 50 Town Homes built by Heartland Homes.

Each unit will have a basement and two floors with either two or three bedrooms, and two-stall garages, and be a combination of brick and Hardiplank lap siding according to Bruce Betty, McCandless Land Use Administrator.

They will be built on the stretch of Cumberland Road between McKnight Road and Babcock Boulevard. Access will be on newly constructed streets off of Cumberland.

"We have a requirement that the fronts look like backs or the backs look like fronts facing Cumberland," said Betty. "That way the people across Cumberland aren't looking at what looks like the backs of houses."

At the moment, construction of the town homes is holding up the beginning of construction of the the new Cinemark Theater in McCandless Crossing.

"We have a requirement that ten of the units be under construction, and all of the units along Cumberland Road have building permits before construction on the theater can start," said Betty.

The requirement was put in place to create a buffer for residents living across the street in existing homes along Cumberland Road.
