McCandless Crossing Update: Site Prep Begins for Final Phase

At least two new restaurants hope to be open by the summer of 2014.

Heavy equipment has begun clearing trees and grading the land for the final phase of McCandless Crossing .

The fourth phase of the development is on the east side of McKnight Road between Duncan Avenue and Cumberland Road.

It includes five restaurants—three of which have already are committed to tenants who've signed agreements— as well as 50 townhomes and a 12-screen Cinemark Movie Theater for starters.

One of those restaurants, Bonefish Grill, was granted approval Monday of a liquor license transfer from a closed restaurant in Duquesne, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported.

Bonefish Grill  will construct its own building and hopes to open by summer 2014 according to Robert McGurk, project manager at AdVenture Development.

Bonefish Grill and another McCandless Crossing restaurant, Carrabba's Italian Grill , are both owned by Tampa, Fla-based Bloomin' Brands Inc.

A Carrabba's is also expected to open in the summer of 2014, the Trib reported.
