ST. ALPHONSUS JV BOYS VOLLEYBALL TEAM CLINCHES 2014 DIOCESAN CHAMPIONSHIP

May 18, 2014—Wexford, PA—The St. Alphonsus JV boys volleyball team clinched the 2014 diocesan championship on Sunday, May 18 during a playoff tournament at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart High School in Coraopolis, PA. The JV team entered the playoffs undefeated for the second straight season, beating St. Elizabeth in the semi-finals and the previously undefeated St. Louise de Marillac in the finals to secure the title. This is the second consecutive championship for the St. Alphonsus JV boys’ team, which has won their section each of their three years in the league.

 

The team, coached by Tim Sheets (head coach) and Rich Kaminski (assistant coach), includes sixth-graders Thomas Andrews, Josh Ball, Ryan Feczko, David Pohlod, and Will Sheets; fifth-graders Richard Kaminski, Michael King, and Peter Schoone; and fourth-grader Coleman McDonough.

The St. Alphonsus boys’ varsity team also won their section this year and remained undefeated in section play for the first time this season.  They have made it to the playoffs in each of their three years participating in the league.
