McCandless Council Approves Final Phase of McCandless Crossing

McCandless  Council recently approved the final phase, the “Town Center” portion of McCandless Crossing  proposed by AdVenture Development LLC .

"We have worked hard with AdVenture to create the centerpiece of the McCandless Crossing development and our McKnight Road corridor,” said McCandless Manager Toby Cordek. “We are excited to see this project come to fruition and we look forward to having a Town Center.”

The Town Center will include an 80 ft. by 160 ft. "Town Green" in the center of the plaza. Another 80 ft. by 60 ft. area, which represents the civic art portion of the downtown area, will feature a four-sided Town clock and a ground-level water fountain.

The site grading permit has been issued and grading is expected to begin at any time.

“All buildings are connected via sidewalks. You can park, go have dinner at a restaurant and go to a movie after without ever having to move your car," said McCandless Land Use Administrator Bruce Betty. "If you live there you can walk to the bank, the grocery store or have a coffee with friends. Everything was designed to be accessible, walkable and convenient. The landscape plan is tremendous.”

Amid other approved items are landscaped “buffer” zones, which will serve a dual purpose of storm water management and bio-retention. Pedestrian access between various parts of the center and the out buildings also connect and surround the “downtown” area.

AdVenture will spend $4.1 million on internal and external infrastructure improvements, at no cost to taxpayers, according to a release posted on the Town of McCandless website .
