North Allegheny Plans Elementary, Middle Schools Redistricting

The redistricting will take effect at the beginning of the 2014-2015 school year.

North Allegheny School District administrators Wednesday briefed school board members on plans to redistrict elementary and middle school students for the 2014-2015 school year, the Pittsburgh Post Gazette reports.

The redistricting is necessary to ease overcrowding at Franklin Elementary and Ingomar Middle School, and to balance class sizes in the three elementary schools in McCandless, the paper reported.

The next step is to hold focus groups of parents in November and December.

The board will be asked to vote on a proposal in February with the hopes of beginning the transition process in March, the PG reported.
